i gotta go and sort my mates new pc out for him tonight and set it up with o/s but i cant find my notes on partitioning a drive to work correctly and its been ages since i last done one i cant remember how to do it properly.
i know i gotta use fdisk off a floppy but thats about it lol. its a 200gig drive btw
can someone type me up a quick guide while im in the shower. im pretty desperate for this

why does he need to partition it?
make sure that the bios is up-to-date and that it will detect the HD ok, then install the os, grab a copy of partition magic and use that - works a treat, and i find it alot easier than FDisk
otherwise, do a google for FDisk mate...its been a very very very long time since ive used it

well its all brand new kit so should the motherfucker have the latest bios on it to detect the HD with no problems? or is it just gonna be pot luck?

well its depends on the mobo mate but it should be fine, but its still worth grabbing the newest bios build

Don't bother with fdisk... simply boot off the windows install cd and create the partition during the installation...

yeah just boot off the windows CD and follow all the steps like tim said.
I think there was an issue with XP and 200gb drives. i believe that xp thought that it was smaller. Think that this has been fixed in updates or there may be a fix.
