Ok, this is going to be one of those questions. I got a tapping noise when i drive from the engine bay.
In the rare occasions i go a few days with out driving it i dont here the tapping for a while.
any ides, suggestions, and the cost of fixing the most likely problem.
thanks

I would have said lifters, but, you said if ya dont drive it for a few days the sound goes away, if it was lifters it would be even worse if ya left it a few days.
To locate a sound in the engine, and this is no joke, get a piece of wood, like an axe handle??? and put ya ear on one end and the other end place aorund the engine, you will quickly be able to hear where the sound is coming from, with this method you can pin point exactly what lifter is playing up, try it, when the bottom end goes its more noticable under load, its a deep thumping sound from the bottom end on idle

Get it checked right away, it might be the lifters as said but if it is the bottom end you might get away with replacing the shells.
DONT DRIVE IT HARD TILL YOU GET IT CHECKED
