Bought a cally turbo to put the engine into my Corsa. It had done 120k when it had a full rebuild receipt for £1000 to prove 8k ago. Really sweet engine.
However i've been offered an engine with bottom end done steel rods etc and head flowed etc and am not sure whether to sell my LET engine and put this one in, would it be worth doing?? Or just stick to the standand LET engine?? I am planning phase 2 in the future
What would my LET engine be worth do you reckon?
Cheers

Good LETS got from £1000-1500 depending. The engine will steel bottom is going to be stronger, but it's normaully fueling that kills a LET not the strength of a bottom end. A otherwise std LET maintained correctly can run phase 2 happily, (plus big intercooler)

Right might as well just stick with the standard engine then rather than shelling out for the other.
Already got and 8.1L intercooler.

I've not seen a LET go for £1500 for ages, more like £900-1100 for a complete std let now I think. A recently rebuild one will be worth more....
Depends how much the one with steel rods is costing. You could always take the steelies out and flog them for £350 odd.
I would expect some more nice bits in the engine if someone has gone to the trouble of paying for steel rods.

yes Miles, last time I heard of a LET going for 1.5k it had an f28 strapped to it, and all the mods to lower compression ratio with rebuild back to new.
