How much play can you have on steering. (I know that 0 is the answer, but..)

Can you explain a little more.

When you wingle steering wheel a bit, you hear some noise, which is not coming from uper steering column.

i also have this noise and was told its wear and tear on the pinion.

was advised not to worry about it, but feels terrible

how old and how many miles has ur car done?
