why on earth do you want one in your car
1. Its illegal
2. Its purely stupid.
If you can get 12v strobes i think they should be banned
the links you gave would only work with an invertor. Modifying it would require a new bulb and speed controller board which isnt viable.

okok, i admit its a bad idea lol.
i was thinking of a moving install whre at first the 2 amps are hidden and then at the push of a button they move into the centre.....not alot of point to it but it will look fancy.
is that what you meant richie?

How would ypu go about modifying a smoke machine to work off 12v?
I think a strobe in each wheelarch would look good.

Steve in sealed boxes that wouldnt really happen, but with ported boxes it would fly out.
If you want to fit strobes in the arches, your best bet would be to use headlamp strobes like these:
http://www.speeding.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000123.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2espeeding%2eco%2euk%2f&WD=strobe&SHOP=%20&PREVQUERY=SS%3dstrobe%26PR%3d%2d1%26TB%3dA%26SHOP%3d%20&PN=Car_Accessories_Tax_Disc_Holders_123%2ehtml%23a1066#a1066

You can get 12v ones but they flash 0.5-1 Hz, not like 20Hz like a nightclub one. Same as you find on house alarms. Maplin used to sell them, I assume they still do.
