This has prob been asked many times before but what have the majority of you done with your exhaust system with C20XE engine? Have you just mated the manifold up to the rest of the std corsa system? Will a 45mm bore be THAT restrictive? Simple answer is custom one - I know, but dont want to be spending £300+ for some stainless tube with bends in it....

You can join the up with some flexi-pipe, old exhaust tubing, some clamps, sealent and a welder... Will be ok for a temporary fix until you get a proper system made for the car.

Think they are going to use one of those flex-pipe things - prob make it rasp like a goodun . My main concern is how restrictive it will be, i.e when I pick it up Fri morn and put my foot down for the first time with valver power how much am I going to be missing out on? - Prob not a lot?

It needs to use a flexi pipe, when the engine starts it rattles about loads! And when you floor it the engine rocks forwards and backwards... Your exhaust would fall off if they didn't use a flexi pipe. It will sound a bit poop, and will proabably be restrictive due to the back box producing too much back pressure rather than the pipe diameter - though larger diameter piping will improve performance and sound, as will a properly mated back box.

Got a plan... Anyone know how much a pipe-bender is to hire for a day? Nxt time im up Sheffield in the big van i'll pick up some PROPER 2" dia stainless and we'll have a crack at straight thru
At the end of the day if the muppets at Big City Tyres in notts can make a Powerrust system then I should be able to...

Depends on the type of pipe bender you use. Guess it will be about £50 for a weekend? Can you weld stainless steel though? Might be better off making it out of mild steel and having it galvanized as it will be chaeper if you fuck up

mine was made by local powerflow branch. new one in aylesbury.
lot of money for what it is, but it does the job.
they cut the flanges off the old cat and welded them onto the new pipe so it still joins normally.
where you having yours done then Tomas

Mine is mated up to a 2" Poweflow system, no cat and no centre silencer with twin exit.
Its intrusively loud, conversation on motorway is difficult, especially when accelerating and it has a nasty "tinny" rasp.

J100RSA - Its just I think exhaust systems are very expensive for what they are. Theirs no-way i'd pay £600 for a system. I too want it quiet, just with a hint of a sporty note.

no
they just cut the flanges off the cat to weld onto a straight pipe so it's still fitted in the same way.
mines too loud aswell.
may have the centre section re-made with two silencers in it if i find some spare cash.

You'll porbably need an extra silencer or two to get it quite - XE's are pretty loud engines as it is...

Thats a very good idea i have never thought of making my own system inc de cat. wouldnt be too hard just make it to the original shape and original mounts and add back bow of your choice.
