Well as some of you know i need bigger breaks.
Not because I need better stopping power (standard SRi brakes with ABS are fantasic)
However i do need them because of the caliper rubbing on the inside of the alloy quite badly!
Anyone after contacting a few companies Red Dot seem very intrested in seeing the car and measuring it up
So after talkng to one of their design engineers just now i am going to see them on Saturday
Red Dot brake kits are very expensive, thats the only down fall :/ Talking 1k+
their kits have brembo 4 pots, with their own slotted discs, pads and also brake fluid.
I get paid from my second job on friday so may have a little money floating around, but not sure if i should go the whole hog and spend that much :E
Ill see

yea but with bigger discs the caliper will be mounted further out into the space on the inside of the wheel
Thus not catching the inside of my alloy!

it has something to do with the pistons i have read. the kits are quality and if they are good enough for porsche, they are good enough for me

IMO i would get a different offset wheels rather than spending 1K on brakes when as you said the SRi ones are good enough.

Nismo i agree, would make sense, hey i could even get 18's for the price of the brakes.
Problem being a better offset will only push the wheels out further from the caliper. (doing the same job as i currently have using a spacer...)
Even with the 5mm spacer the caliper is still catching slightly on the wheel.
This makes the current offset effectivly ET40. (as the wheels are et45)
Then next one down would be et 35 this pushing the wheel out even moree!!! clearing the caliper with ease, however then making the car rub on the archs.
The best solution to me seems to be to get bigger brake discs + pushing the caliper out into the wheel where there is space,
Then i can remove the spacer and have the right offset. My current Kahn RS-S are et 45. Ideal for the Vauxhall Corsa C.
I had no problems with the 1.2, nothing at all, went on fine, no spacers or anything.
Its only because of the 1.8 SRi bigger calipers you get the problem.

Get 'em, you can never have good enough brakes, unless you fitted some train brakes off of an Intercity Express train

That joke wouldve been so below the belt if the train wasnt a First Great Western, and infact an Intercity.

Painzy I refuse to believe your second job (we know which one) is paying you that mucch to get a set of Red Dots (get the calipers in a different colour, the black doesn't stand out enough. try yellow like hoses )

Would hubs and brakes from another car not fit? My calipers and discs are big, but don't come anywhere near the wheels
