Been thinking of getting a bit of a banger, just somthing which will cost me £200-300 quid and be good for a years driving,

Want a tiny engine just so it gets me from A-B

I would only want 3rd Party insurance.

I would only drive the second car when im not driving the corsa,

How does insurance work on a second car? Do i have to take a whole new premium out?

What's the point getting the Corsa then if you didn't want to use it?

What suspension have you got? You've not fitted something like an Apex kit have you...

Yes, you can just add another car - make sure it's not a sporty model or they'll say you're gay or a high-risk, or both.

Still think you should be driving the Corsa and stop being a pussy

Nothing under the bonnet would fix the speed bumps on the road

with a lot of insurance policies, you can drive any car third party so long as that car has it's own policy taken out on it.

eg. you could drive your mums car tpo if she'd insured it herself. you wouldn't need to be a named driver.

you can't drive a car on a drive anything policy if there is no other insurance on the car. ie. if you bought a shitter as a second car, you wouldn't be able to just drive on your existing policy, wether you were 25 or not.

some companies offer discounts for a second car, but you still pretty much have to take out a second policy on it, just at a discounted rate.

think this is correct.

Yes, this is the case with most policies, but the other car must be insured in someones name, otherwise its an uninsured vehicle on the public highway if you park it anywhere other than your driveway.

ok i have pulsar insured with tesco. i rang to enquire about adding the nova and was told that i can add a temporary car for up to 90 days in any 12 month policy and it would cost £30 a month. as the nova was also classed as a high risk car they had to get authourisation to do it as normally they wouldnt but as i have been with them a few years now and have max protected no claims i argued the toss!!
she also told me that i could have a second policy and they would mirror my no claims onto that but only if its again not a high risk car. as the nova is high risk then i would have to start again with zero no claims on that policy but tesco wont insure high risk if you have less than 2 years no claims!!

as for driving another car whilst i was on the phone i asked how i stand with this. she said i can drive another car third party only but only in the event of an emergency i.e the person you are with falls ill and you need to drive them or your car breaks down and you need to get to work. so all those who think they are insured to drive any car i suggest you bear that in mind and check with your insurer!

I was looking at the same with a Nissan Micra 1.0 the other week to keep my fuel bill down, but the cheapest i could get it insured for is £470 TPFT as a lot of companies don't just offer Third Party
