My Pc which is on broad band is still connected to broad band, but every now and then just stops working (like its disconnected) and then starts working again at random points?!?

I copied a file from my home pc to my pc at uni (which is connected to the internet via the reading network) ... and now I'm having the same problem here...

Is this a virus? anyone know what one?

well it wasn't even letting me get online and it was going really slowly - I checked the processes thing and there was a process I didn't recognise using 99% of my CPU power (this is a 3000 64 bit chip) ... stopped the process and problem went... hmm...
