I used www.parcel2go.com for a gearbox... cost me about 20% of what other couriers wanted.

Think gearbox cost me £24 for something pushing 40kg IIRC (so an alloy shouldn't be too bad)...

You can price it online too...

Weigh it, if its less than 20kg royal mail will take it std parcel - cost about £12, thats how I sent my MR2 exhaust (which aint exactly small/light) 300 miles.
