as you may know my cambelt snapped, engine ruined, lol

im having new parts put in for around 360 quid and all will be sorted, i thought i may have the head skimmed a little is it worth it or not?

my car is a 1.4 16v sport

if heads coming off get it skimmed anyway, sent mine to the machine shop and it came back like a mirror... all for 18 quid

its more of a case of "will i have to take it in bits again" than power increase, but a head skim improved my old cars response noticably

Don't skim th ehead unless you need to, then engine already runs 10.5:1 Cr ratio which is high enough.

still worth sending it off incase its got a slight warp - least then he wont be doing the headgasket about 600miles down the road!

put a ruler on the face?? that works well.
why put unecessary stress on the head.

Lapping in the valves correctly will make much mroe of a difference than raising the CR.

Got three metal rules from CDT at school many yrs ago, can't go wrong with them
