i thought this as well, usually the bus is packed by the time it gets to my stop, all the seats are taken and i have to sit at the back.
I try to sleep it off but it doesn't work most of the time, either wake up feeling sick or don't fall asleep at all.
What can i do about it?

work is 15miles away so walking/running is out of the question.
Driving is also not an option because of the damn congestion charge and the cost of parking my car in london
I don't get much sleep, about 6/7 hours usually. Think i need more.

Look out the front windows, not the sides.
If you can't look out the front windows, read a paper.
