what model car and engine? i had this on my 1.0l (if its the same 1), quite common apparrently, sounded like the tappets wanted to jump through the bonnet, is this the 1?

1.2 16V Sxi facelift. so quite new. also my mates 1.4 16V sri does it.

the ticking dies down pretty quick in mine tho, only really noticable in cold weather like now.

well i took mine into vauxhall and told em about it, they got 1 of there little sproggs to come out and look at it, and something to do with 1 of the pullies on the kam belt or tensioner or summit wears down cus its made out of plastic, i aint really sure wat the problem is but i no its in that area, but anyway, a day later it was purring again, well whistling like the 1.0l hairdryer did!!!
but i wunt think ur cambelt is about to snap cus mine did it 4 a year b4 i got it looked at cus they told me it was nothing wen i first said about it!!!

mine does it (1.2 16v) comes from near the air box, dont think its out to worry about tho.

My car is in Vauxhalls at the mo for this. They have changed my timing chain guide rails and timing chain. The car sounded like a diesel when idling. I will let you know if it works when I get the car back which might not be until friday.
