Doesnt make much of a difference, the shares still have value only difference being they have a greater risk attached as they fluctuate.

How want the shares count? Ebays profits will be huge and depending on the % holding will receive a hefty dividend. And they could of course sell the shares

Personally id have thought being the worlds biggest online market place with little chance of that slipping, the shares would have a big residual value with a greater chance of growing than a lot of companies, but im not an expert on the stock market and Robbo will know a lot more than me.

To be honest dot com companies hand out shares like theres no tomorrow... any1 seen the simpsonms where barts angry dad comic is turned in2 an internet video

Anyhoo, what i meant really is that shares cost nothing to a company, obv in theory they will lose out in receiving £xxx had they sold the shares but companies arent stupid... they can always issue more shares On the other hand the former owners of rent.com are quids in either way as there is not much of a chance that ebay wud go under
