"Too much to bare" makes it sound like you got too many clothes on.

I believe the phrase you seek is "too much to bear", as in you can't take any more.

Yep. The correct spelling is 'bear'.

"Too much to bear."

"His soul bearing all it could take" would probably make much more sense grammatically, if it was worded "His soul bore all it could take."

But it depends on if the phrase is in the past or present tense.
