no, its an eight foot gate, that needs to be locked from the inside, and when i put my car in the garage i have to walk round the street. If there was a padlock on then i wouldnt be able to reach over and unlock it, so i need a key lock.

it cant go inside the gate either as its only about 15mm thick (its just wooden slats)

This one wil mount onto your gate... not sure if it's a 2-way lock though.... if it is all you'll need to do is drill a whole for the key one the other side.
