Assessment 3 - Search for specific resources on the Internet
In this assessment, you should demonstrate that you are able to search for specific resources on the Internet. The evidence for this assessment takes the form of a written report. You should also print out the resources that you find and attach these to your report.
· Select a topic for research and state this clearly. This topic can be vocational or related to your personal interests.
· Identify the range of search facilities available for researching this topic. You should mention the names of specific search facilities, e.g. Alta Vista
· From the range of search facilities identified, select one facility that is appropriate to your particular enquiry and give its URL. State why you have chosen this facility.
· Discuss the syntax rules for conducting a search using this particular facility.
· Carry out a search for resources on your topic using the search terms chosen.
· When you have located relevant resources for your topic, download these to your local machine. A resource may be a posting from a newsgroup, a web page, etc.
· Print out copies of these resources, sign and date them and send to your tutor at college, along with your written report.
