15 pin VGA, pin three is blue, which you're losing.

No anti virus & then a couple of bouts of viruses one was a trojan i think.
So new hard drive, anti virus, firewall, ad aware & spyware are all now on & seems to be working fine & I did it all myself too

Check the plug in the back of the computer and the wires entering the monitor, give them a wiggle see what happens. Bad news is that if its inside the wire its probably easier to replace the monitor.

was just about to ask who u got to do it all til i read last sentance, i remember ur confusion in dixons as u didnt kno which way the cd writer went in
