Who i salso a close family friend im planning on leaving. i currently work in an accountants but have applied to join the police. its getting awkward now as hes my dads best mate and i dont want my dad to have to watch what hes saying etc. ive decided im going to tell him but dont know the best way around it. After i apply it might be up to 18 months before i get appointed so itll be a long wait, but if they get funny ill just leave and get a job paying about £4k more in a call centre for a year or so.

Whilst at Uni I did a stint at Asda up to Christmas - before I left for the holiday they asked what shifts I'd like in January - I said none because I'm quitting.

They didn't like me

Dude I know it can be shitty at first but finish AAT and crack on with ACCA and you will reap the rewards... I qualified AAT @ 20 and am getting there on ACCA and am moving to a new job paying nearly £26k pa... I know at 1st the pay can be crap but it gets MUCH better

if the AAT is on the apprenticeship scheme the firm you work for only pays about £60 a week which is nowt, they will claim that back in an hours work no doubt. No point finishing your AAT if you dont want to stay in accountancy. ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA are the ones that really count.

This is very true is meant to be quite difficult to get in (my sister is in the police)

I would stick at your job until you actually get abit further, otherwise you may find yourself out of a job as if I was your boss and you told me that I would start looking for a new person straight away.

Thank you Oliver

I am going to stick at my job, i am also going to tell my boss that i am applying to join the police. I know it doesnt necessarily mean i'll get in first time, but i will re apply until i get in. If they do start looking for someone new/change with me then i will go back to my old job at the call centre that i was offered about a month ago.

I'd wait a bit longer before you join the police, you can join in a few years if you haven't got a better job then
