I wish mate, my pug is about as reliable as a solar powered torch and drinks more fuel than gazza on a bender lol
it does handle well though : )
I thought the XE was a reliable engine??

The XE is bullet proof if looked after properly, fuel consumption aint that bad either, bout 30 - 35 MPG. I can get 400 miles out of a full tank if driven with a bit of sense

First thing to do on the XE is a full service including the all important timing belt change

checked your garage... has your pug really got 148 bhp? and over 120 lb ft of torque? surely that'll be quicker than a 2.0 corsa.

It was RR'd last February at 148.8 bhp yes
I thought the XE was 150 bhp as standard

dout it ould be quicker, not too far behind u got to remember the 2.0 has 100cc more per cylinder that is whats better than 1.6 with 150 bhp the sheer grunt
a 1.6 corsa sport needs more than standard xe power just to keep on the tail of an xe'd corsa

My money would be on the pug until 80/90ish, then I would imagine the corsa would win out as the 106 runs out of steam a little in 4th.
Looks like you've been one of the unlucky ones with the 106 Stuart, never had a problem with mine and I think the fuel consumption is really good, just got 300 miles to £27 quid
