There is some black matting looks like he is using for smoothing in arches, looks quite an easy way of doing it. What is it and where can i get some?

looks a bit like paint but thought it wasnt shiny enough could be though. Thinking about some matting though and soaking it in resin and wrapping round the whole are then skim of filler and job done. Would it work?

If u wanted to do it absoloutly correctly then:
use a low GSM bi - axial matt - finished off with a surface tissue
would then be a case of using the slightest amount of resing with balloon inhibitors in it (alternative to P38 - easisand)- and I gaurantee it'll never crack
possibly wouldnt even crack in a collision
That arch above is painted - but its been smoothed as well - and iirc Koni reckoned he used a crack-proof method of smoothing so will be something similar to what Ive described using matt
- the paint as it is in the photo - will be there to stop moisture absorbtion into any fillers used

Its just black aerisol can paint to cover the bare metal... finish is not important.
To guarnatee it will never crack... fabricate steel arches

The trick to smoothing arches without going down the road of fabricating metal arches, is to fix the arch in possition so that there is absolutely no movement... i can manually lift the front end of my car up:- holding onto the arches. Thos arches have been matted on the outside and on the inside, there is no movement what so ever... get that sorted and your onto a winner.
