i was enquirin about havin my cambelt replaced as im soon to get my car, but a mechanic i was speakin to said that i would probly need the water pump changed too. this true or am i being bullshitted?

what engine is it and i would change the pump while the belt is off if the bearings collapse then it will cease and the belt will break, pumps are around 15 - 30 quid

on a ecotec id replace the belt, idler pulleys, water pump and tensioner

True, you should replace the water pump, idler pullys and timing belt. If one of those items fails then you will need a new engine. So best to do the lots as it costs a lot less

i can get the parts easy enough, but how much would i be looking at for labour to fit them?
