I'm thinking about getting a clio 172. Has anyone driven one or had any experience with one?
If so what are they like? Reliability? What to look for etc..
One I might be interested in AutoTrader Link (Not sure whether the link will work!) 3rd one down one with 28k miles
Thanks

Agreed, I was always wary of Renault build quality, but owning the Cup has totally changed my mind, its a great car, gutted I've got to sell.

My mate's selling his Clio 172cup, 14k miles, 02 model, he hardly uses it, in thed ay he uses a works van, when he comes home he can't be arsed to go anywhere, and if he does it's the pub and he obviously doesn't drive it there n back.
He's the first owner of it and wants £9kono everything is standard

Well i drove my mates clio 1.4 16V in work.It a 51 reg and has decent sport suspension from Renault and every extra going.
It is a horrid car to drive! Nothing how i imagined at all.Clutch is heavy as fuk and the seating postion is just wrong..felt really akward to drive
Might be a totally diff story with a 172 but this one ain't far from it apart from the performance.Goes good for a 1.4 mind you.
Shame i wanted a nice blue 172 for ages and always thought they would be really easy/nice to drive

Clio is small, nimble and like to be thrown about, and is quick, wheras the astra is bigger and heavier.
The Astra takes over the clio at 70 and leaves it for dust.

The smaller clios are no comparison at all to the 172's / V6's
I have a phase 1 172, and I can safely says its the best car I ever brought. The engine has more than enough torque for just pottering around when you can't be arsed, and obviously takes off when you feel like being a bit wild
Take one for a spin, you won't be dissapointed!

You must be really really old then! They are a group 17, which is funny when young people try to insure them.
Who's it with just out of interest?

I'm 23 but my girlfriend is 26, I live with her so i will put it in her name. Ive done a couple of quotes online I tried directline which was about £600.
My gf told me to try Diamond and it came out at £511.
I'm not sure how accurate the online quotes are so before I buy I will have to phone around.
My corsa at the moment costs me £280 fully comp at the moment and thats with all mods declared in a shitty 1.4 though.
Just have to wait and see
