What sorta speeds are 'safe' in 1st 2nd 3rd gears in a 1 litre? Don't have a rev counter yet i'm afraid. ie when accelerating

Get a set of clocks from a scrappy with a rev counter?

1st can go upto about 20mph
2nd can go upto about 40mph
3rd to about 60mph

but this is goin upto about 5,000RPM

Mine does 30 in 1st, 50 in 2nd and 70 in 3rd.

Thats going just below the redline @ 5k

I got 98 outta 4th, then hard to turn off

Floor was shaking big time aswell

Why would the floor shake?

Mine doesn't shake at 130 and the floorpan's the same..

PMFSL i would buy a 12 volt as an economical run around but looks like there are too many neds thrasing the arse out of them

you can buy mine off me after im done with it
only got 56k on the clocks
however im sure a ned had it before me as there was so many problems with the engine

ye 50mph in 2nd and bang on 70mph in 3rd not sure about 1st

mates tops out at 90 with 15's on...

indicated speeds at the limit (except 5th)... so allow for over-reading speedo...

1st - 34 (probably more like 30)
2nd - 59 (probably more like 56)
3rd - 89 (probably more like 84)
4th - 112 (probably more like 105)
5th - 132 (at about 6250RPM - probs more like 123)
