ive got a 12" 500w rms, 1000w peak audiobahn sub, and recently bought a cheap 1500w 2 channel amp off ebay, ive bridged the channels so that more power is going to the sub, but turned the gain down slightly... its is loud, but nowhere near as loud as i expected from an audiobahn sub... is it most likely that i need to fork out for a mint amp, like an alpine or audiobahn or whatever??

the way i see it is - makes like kenwood, kicker, rockford, etc have their reputation at stake when designing and building audio equipment, so naturally they are going to be well thought out products with a good sound reproduction. The cheaper less well known brands such as boss and shark, particularly when it comes to amps, dont have the build quality and guarenteed output of the popular makes - of course there are unknown brands that do have quality products. Just something to bare in mind.

id say the amps crap tbh, go for a better one and im sure you will notice a difference, say a Alpine MRD-M501 as a fair priced amp.
