just been out in car and got some petrol, drove up the road a bit and it felt like there was no power in 3rd gear... so i drove down the next turn and attempted to turn around, then it stalled. Then the car wouldnt start for ages, i eventually got it going it was reving really high (without me touching the accelerator). The car continued to stall. I got it home by keeping high revs (around three thousand). The battery light is on. What could be the problems? alternator fooked?

hat or a completely fooked battery which wont even hold any charge...
thats the thing with car batteries, they can be fine one second, then completely dead the next!

get the battery tested & if its dead, replace it...
if your alternator is also fooked, if you have an 8v car, Adam-D has a spare alternator he's lookin at selling

ok mate say it was the alternator, recently changed the battery  . How much am i looking it for the part and labour at a reasonable price
