Just want to clarify...
From what I can gather on the net, Any rear window tint is legal, but front must let 70% light through...
Is this correct, and if so is it due to change any time soon as I keep hearing different things from everyone on this

But most places say you cant tint the front windows anyway, as they don't let 100% light through in the first place, so even the lightest of tints will make them illegal

Front side window tints are not illegal, its just that most standard windows are already at 70% VLT so if you add film you go illegal straight away.

Overkill IMO.
The one fatalaty was most probably caused with someone who had stupid tints that hey did themselves
My dad had his BMW done after that date, and he has never been pulled they aint that dark tho.
I fully agree excessive tints should be removed. But in fairness the darkest of tints, if done by a proffesional using proper techniques and not stick on tat will provide a finish that is perfectly visible from the inside > out.
Therefore the law bieng irrelevant

When I got my tints fitted, I was warned by the garage that the may be illegal, but I wasn’t bothered, and they fitted them regardless.
I’ve not had any problems with them, and even when the glass is wet or at night, I’ve still had no problems.
But then again, I do have light tints on my front and not this limo tint stuff with is a bit hard to see out of at night.

Is that true for all vehicles? I don't think my windows are tinted at all... In comparison to our A4 and A8 you can see that blatantly...

It should say on the window. It does on the cars here, anyway.
