Go for at least a 20GB. They quickly fill up.
Don't even consider an alternative IMO. The software is what makes the iPod.

get the 20gb sony nw-hd3....£190 from johnlewis (good guarentees), cheaper online, and they are very good, aluminium, so hard wearing. SUperb value for money, put the ipod to shame.

i am slightly biased, as i bought the sony today, but its smaller, lighter (i think), larger capacity for money, and looks equally as funky as the ipod. However, as all sony products do, it comes with shite earphones, so i have ordered the Sony MDR-EX71SLB Fontopia Headphones - Black from amazon, so add £30 onto the price. Not too sure on ipods, just been told they are not very good value for money, and the batteries dont last long (wear out quick).
Hope this helps,
ANton

you dont rate the Zens then?? i thought they were supposibly one of the best, especially for sound quality?
still, currently on the lookout for an ipod for the car - but they all seem to go for around 150 quid mark

im not sure on the battery life on my 40GB, as i normally have it plugged into the pc, so the battery has never run out.
Not many known ipod problems, sometimes they can freeze, but jus press 2 buttons and it works again.

The cons would be that the Sony software is shit and you don't get iTunes.
