i passed my test on the 23/05/03 so obviously i will have been driving 2 years on monday but on my licence it says valid from 06/06/03 now i assume this is when the dvla processed it,so what date do i go by the day i passed my test or the day they got their finger out and issued it?

im 99% sure it should be the date you passed your test, as in theory thats when you get your license, even though you dont have the physical card. it is on mine anyway

i know thats what i cant figure out surely the dvla should have put the date i passed my test on as the valid from date!i sent it away as soon as i passed.

I'd say it's the date that your license was issued. You don't automatically receive your license when you pass your test, you must apply for it..

Date on mine says 29/04/05 ... i passed my test on the 25/04/05 so it is from the date they issue it

If your're thinking about the points issue, then i'm fairly sure it states held a license for 2 years rather than driving for 2 years.

just found this.


New drivers. Special rules apply to drivers within two years of the date of passing their driving test if they passed the test after 1 June 1997 and held nothing but a provisional (learner) licence before passing the test. If the number of penalty points on their licence reaches six or more as a result of offences they commit before the two years are over (including any they committed before they passed the test), their licence will be revoked. They must then reapply for a provisional licence and may drive only as learners until they pass a theory and practical driving test.

do not fucking say that i have been driving like a granny for about a year and eight months because of this shite law!
