To be fair though it is an MOT failure if its ripped and also if it isnt greased will damage the CV joint which in turn will cost more than just a CV boot to fix.
Maybe its worth gettin it fixed?

Thats is if he is talking about the CV boot

if he happened to mention it to you as a friendly piece of advice because if left it will cause more damage then fair enough, if he was trying to be all like, "get that sorted or else we'l fine you" then tell them to gtf

Is your wheel covered in grease on the inside? if not then it isnt split or ripped, if it isnt covered in grease then it may just be in poor condition

TBH i'd just change it anyway, it wont be expensive to do and it saves hassle with the police and saves getting CV grease all over your wheels as its a bastard to get off if it does get on them.
