Right doing some work on my corsa.......fair bit of welding and then will need a repaint the boot lid

Its a 5 door so ok its not the nicest thing but i think i might just like to smarten it up....its my everyday car so im not bothered if it has a XE or not

but i might take the bumpstrips off.......the paint is flame red its not as faded as some ive seen but its not its best.......when i remove the strips its going to be noticable....and i need to respray the rear 1/4 panel so yet again its abit cloudy around here......what do people recomend i polish it with? maybe rubbing compound? i dont want to be spending alot on this mopping thing..

You wont get the paint to match when you remove the rub strips. You wont really be able to match the paint too well when re-spraying it either... SOrry bout that, flame red is jsut really really awful for fading

yeah tell me about it......

my dads old porsche needed the rear arch repainting as my mum lef the handbrake off but yeah that was a little fadded but it came up

the flame red on corsa's tho is terrible i know......ive never tried to polish it though....

so you recon its not really possible to buff it up in anyway? so im guessing the fading will go right through? so compound wont work? its not that faded...but its noticable

Mine was bad when I took the badges off, nothing I used got the paint to match... WHen I touched up the bonnet too I thought I had bought the wrong colour paint it was that bad I would leave the rub strips on and just get the repair work done by a bodyshop who can blend the paint in to make it appear to match better.......

cant afford to get a bodyshop involved.....i done all bodywork needed myself....i could repaint it here but its just so not worth the hassle

was thinking about removing the bump strips as i caught the rear door on a wall so scratched the door and took a nice lump of the bump strip

meh.....guess its just leave it a mess

my mum can have it back
