Currently running an old Dell Optiplex GX150, totally standard with windows 2000. This is running really slow, like taking 5 minutes to get to desktop when starting. Ive downloaded the msconfig from xp to change the startup, done three virus scans and deleted these.
Broadband slow too, and doesnt like pop ups like U2U on here, I have to hold dwon shift to stop it saying an error log has occured and cutting net off!
Not sure what i'm doing so didnt want to mess with the registry. I;m running winmx but nothing much else apart from the usual office stuff. Any help appreciated! Thank u please! Sorry if i sound really dim!

Download Crap Cleaner and Spybot and check your system with these two tools, I use them all the time:

that pc is really old, if anything id look for a cheap upgrade, you can get pc's for next to nothing even dells are going for £400 for a P4 2.8Ghz, you really need a memory (RAM) upgrade, but waste of money unless your updating the rest of the computer.

yeah agreed with sam, chances are theres alot of crap clogging it up, check the system and go from there.

happened to mine,was shit for ages then it just chucked it,wiped everything from computer and installed windows xp proffesional and it runs great
