I know lots of people who had it done

So long as i cover relevant undesirables that i dont want to get wet. Should be fine.

it wont screw you car over if the people know what they are doing. I did mine myself once just got a steam cleaner and covered up the:

Dizzy
Battery
Covered the spark plug bores
Fuel relay
Coil

then let loose and the finishing reasult was:

this was three years ago now....as it looks like this now:

I work at a vauxhall garage I steam engine bays everyday never covered anything up as most cars have DIS ingnition now so no dizzy
even if they have a dizzy it only needs a blow out with the air line to remove condensation
They spray some autoglym vynal and rubber cleaner on the plastics and rubber hoses and it will look mint!
we charge £10 for engine bay
done it for 3 years and never had one car come back with any problems whatsoever

cover dizzy
fuel relay
put a plastic bag under the spark plug cover to stop water seeping down the bores
cover coil
remove air filter
remove or cover battery
cover coolant temp sensor
cover or remove Air flow meneter as these are £150 new fro, shinee and that cheap for a LET

and steam clean away
