ive had and engine flush.
Made it better but still not great had numerous oil changes.
Best way is to clean or replace em
Thicker oil maybe good, i have been told to avoid due to turbo tho

mav.... its not hard to clean them...
Whip the rocker and cams off, take the lifters ooooot...
Give them a good soak in beer, sorry petrol (sonic hedge hog bath if you can)... let them dry then soak in oil for a good day or so before refitting
If any are buggered, replace
I have a spare 16 if you need a set to work on so your car isnt off the road for ages (i'd need 16 back though)

I love it when you get new lifters fitted, engine sounds sweet, no more tap tap, ya get swish swish swish instead

wouldnt worry about it, cold start tapping is perfectly normal on XE's....
Fella I know has a 170,000 mile GTE 16v which started tapping on cold start at about 100k... it ran a 14.9 at PV

Halfords recomend 15-40w oil for the Cavalier. I use Castrol High Milage. My engine is loverrleyyy and quiet. I also used some tappets from a written off Astra 1.6 with an Ecotec in it. The car had only done 30k
