Sorry about all the questions - easier than starting loads of threads!

OK, I bought a GSi a couple of days ago and it looks like the bumpers/skirts have been replaced, they are genuine Vauxhall items but they have the dimply textured finish - and I correct in thinking that GSi's had smoothed painted bumpers?

Also a few other GSi related questions if you wouldn't mind:

The downpipes appear to have some kind of guard on it which rattles - is this guard important if I can't get it tightened up?

Immobiliser, Mine has got one on and I'm wondering if it's a OEM Vauxhall one (I doubt it), it came with a key fob with a single button on and it looks like it's made by Lucas, you have to turn keys until the dash lights come on
(apart from the ECU light) you then have to press the keyfob button which will 'enable' the ECU and allow you to start it - is this normal or has it been added? On the same subject one ignition key is chunky with the built in light would this be anything to do with a Vauxhall immobiliser? (the other ignition key is just a 'normal' key).
Kind of on the same subject - Clifford alarms (IS 950) , anyone got one on a GSi with leccy window closure?

Cambelt tensioners, It doesn't say in the service history that they've been changed, I heard that the OEM ones were plastic and had a tendancy to break up and were replaced as part of a recall, Can I tell by looking at them if they are plastic or if they've been changed? Also how much do they cost roughly from Vaux if I do have to replace them?

How often should the oil/filter be changed?

LMF brake kits - does anyone know if they use the ATE V6/Turbo calipers?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions later, but I think they'll do for now!

Cheers

you can see the dimpled effect on the bumpers/skirts of the gsi

cambelt tensioners will have been changed if the cambelt has been changed.

i usually do oil/filter change every 6000 miles

Vaux were cheap skates when it came to spraying the GSi, the arches and front bumper were'nt smoothed.

As for the cambelt rollers, they were recalled but they were only replaced with PLASTIC ones again, my advice to everyone with X14XE/16XE engines is to get the SBD metal ones the next time you change your cambelt.
