What a shocking car

Looked terrible on the track!! Megane Trophy was more impressive

And... unsurprisingly, they'd still have the Golf

looks a bit frisky on the track but it's still a fast car and was fast round track....don't think a CTR would beat it on the track..

Problem is, as suspected, they've put too much power in just so they can say they have the most powerful cvar (as their ad campaign states)... I think when I chip my GTI I would get it to 225-230bhp

When would you rag a VXR round public roads like that though? Couldnt GAF what it handles like round a track. Ride comfort on normal A,B, and M roads is more important to me. As it value for money. That said I do like TG and do like watching them thrash the cars round the track. The times wouldnt have any bearing on what car i'd buy though.

Yeah Robbo but you might then have the same probs with handling, unless lowering, coilovers etc.... Still should be fun though

Times I don't care about, handling though - yes. Its a lot of power for a FWD car. I might also wait for the new Leon Cupra R...

hmmm too many coming out

This sis true, the same way people say that a car is crap because it doesnt do good on qtr miles, thats not exactly everyday motoring eh!!

Thats why Id want to keep the power not too high, I think 230 is really a top figure for a std FWD

Handling is important for sure but they drive these cars on the edge and claim they are crap at handling. Bit OTT. If it keeps grip round a roundabout at a reasonable speed in the wet then thats fine by me.

agreed, you wont be driving it like they were on public roads, so for a daily driven hatchback its pretty quick, and looks good(not to everyones taste) if i was buying a car that was likely to see a track i wouldnt get a fwd hatch...
thought the vxr was pretty impressive, and it was a vauxhall

they seemed pretty against the VXR for the fact it's a vauxhall... loads of cars have been moaned about because of torque steer and stuff (i.e. RS Focus) - yet they praise them?

I feel the stig didnt' even want to do a good lap with the VXR, hence wheel spinning to shit off the line, and the stunt at the hammer head.

Thing is yes that much power through front wheels isn't good, so don't boot it in lower gears as your turning! it's the same with most FWD cars with power.

Look at the VXR Astra's on touring cars, even more power through the front wheels (I know better suspension, downforce and tyres) but they're kicking arse.
