Laptop would be good as I could take it out easily and use it when on the train and stuff, but mini pc would look the nuts in the car.
Anyone know where I can buy a car pc from? Been looking on the net, but only found us sites.
If anyone has a pc or laptop please post pics
Thanks

Very nice. How does power work? Do you run from an invertor, and how does that affect shutdowns if you turn the ignition off before shutting down?

you could try something like this:
clicky
its got a monitor included its not touch screen and its a specialist unit so you would need to make sure it can do what you want it to now, but it already runs of 12v so it looks like u would just need a regulator rather than an invertor

Regulators can be found here : http://www.carnetix.com/
Avoid the Ituner pre-regulators - they are based on linear regulators (LM1084) and have a minimum input voltage of about 13.5v to kick out a nice stable 12v.
Alternatively switch the PW60 for a proper power supply such as an Opus from linitx for example : http://www.linitx.com/

A 7" 15:9 touch screen is around £160 shipped, and an 8" 4:3 touch screen (better imo) is around £180 shipped.
7"
8"

get a mini-itx machine, run linux off a CF card
quick startup, no need to really "shut down" either.

getting my old server back, its a micro-atx box, so thinking of sticking it in the car, need a touch screen to acompany it, can anyone recommend something cheap?
I'm also going to be creating a custom linux install and making some software to create a nice looking media interface, would anyone be interested in this software?
If people are interested, I can make it easier for myself to distribute it when its finnished.
