im organising a meet for the east midds but because it is located in derby its quite a good place to Meet everyone seeming that its smack bang in the middle of England.
I have gone to the effort of getting some land for every single Corsasport member to park their car on.
So i want all of the peeps that turned up today to try and make the effort for this meet please.
its on the 18th of sept on the sunday just after trax.
As usual we are inviting as many of you as possible as its always good to meet new corsasport members.
The meet will be Sunday september 18th at 12pm onwards. Im not familiar with the location but i have copied and pasted what Reedy has said in another post and im shure he will get some more info up soon....
Right, i dont know if you know the area but there is a pub in Derby called the Bubble Inn alot of car enthusiasts go there to hold their meets there.
Nice area, big space, food, toilets and drinks easily availiable and the location is quite easy to get to.
I think this maybe a winner for the next meet.
There is one problem, there is a gravel part which isnt sloped but the grass is so if people with really really low corsas come they will have to park on the gravel bit.
Please post any suggestions, questions or queries on here and put your names down if your interested in attending the meet.
20+ cars would be a nice figure, i will be there as always with my trusty camera taking some pictures.
Regards
M Sutton and Reedy
I have been speaking to robmarriot and he said that if we get 50+ coming then he will email total vauxhall so it will be quite a good meet.
Please put down some names to who is coming:
1: Me(Reedy)
2: reedys mate (chris)
3: Rob Mariot
4: Broster
5: M Sutton
6: Ryan(white sri)
7: Mat.h(swad matt not other matt)
8: DNA(possibly)
and hopefully the other lads from the other east midds meet.
Please, Please, Please come, its a good location, and i have gone to all of the effort ofgetting the space. Also there is the chance to be on total vaux if we get enough peeps.

Have total vauxhal said they will come? They came today so I doubt they would come to another corsa meet only one month later.

Erm I think your missing the point. It was the Corsa Sport National meet today. What your organising isnt CS endorsed so why should they turn up?

because, i beleive that, if its a big corsa/vauxhall related meet they should attend, whether it be a cs national meet or not.

If you say so
no need for the derogatory posting, we are trying to organise a big meet and all you have to say is that it'll be crap. its hard enough to do without people slating it. if you aint got nothing nice to say, shut it

ohhh big man!
You didnt come to the national meet so dont expect because you start a post saying your have a bigger meet for every one to drop everything and come to yours.
End of.
If its that important then post in each region to a post in the east mids. Simple as that.

Before this gets bitchy, I'll take a stance.
Meets are given official endorsement for many reasons - covering costs, liability, accountability, co-ordination of effort, non-duplication which actually makes meets smaller, not bigger.
For those reasons and more, big meets should be approved through the official channels first. Obviously this doesn't apply to local stuff, which should be co-ordinated through regional orgs.
Anything else is ad-hoc, potentially smaller than official stuff and as I said in the u2u, mere luck if they're big. As I said in the national meet thread, its not the best turnout we've ever had but I would rather look at the reasons behind this before coming up with another date and some hopes and wishes that it will come off.
It might - the first national meet was huge and organse by someone who gets banned regularly - but if were that easy to get that many people up for it I would have them every week myself, as would everyone who has put their names down officially and is there for 7am starts or commitment to their region.
ps., if this is you, let me know. Its not an easy job and we need to pull together, not apart.

ok fair point ian, i have one of those reasons then. "co-ordination of effort" i have gone to the effort of sorting out the land for people to meet up. I have made the effort now and i am now trying to get other people to come to make the meet big.
A meet is not meet without everyones effort, I would like to appeal to eveyone to put some effort into this meet and come. The meet that happend today was organised well and well done to Matt.h and the others, i would on the other hand like them all to turn up again to the next meet. Which will be bigger if people show the effort to turn up.
Its probably gonna be the last meet for the summer so lets make it a big one!!!!

werent really expecting official recognision to be honest ian, and thats cool, just a little bit of appreciation form the fellow CSers, like i said, i've posted on other sites in an attempt to get loads of people there, but if we dont pull it off, at least we've tried
we're not trying to look big by organising a meet, just thought it might be a good location for the whole country, its was only gonna be an east mids meet, but i thought i'd let everyone else know cos they might be interested
obviously i was wrong, so it seems to be a wasted effort

In my opinion its a good idea but very bad timing.
One thing I have noticed is that you're inviting literally anyone which in my eyes is a bad thing. Im sure many people will agree with me if I were to say that we go to meets to socialise with people we know & meet people we talk to/read about on here. CS is a community, many people are good friends with each other on here and anyone who came today will have realised this.
In my eyes a meet is a gathering of friends, what you're planning to organise sounds more like a cruise.
Also, the fact that you have never attended a national meet before may cause problems. Its not just a case of finding a piece of land big enough, there are many other factors to be taken into account. If I'd never been to a NAtional meet before there would've been one or two things that I wouldn't have taken into consideration.
All im saying is that if you plan to do this think long & hard about it, I don't believe 3 weeks is long enough to plan an event like this.
Best of luck

thank you for your opinion Matt, but the problem is, for a meet it has to be really a summer meet, the last time that seems about feasible will be that date as after this date everyone will be back to work, uni and what ever people do.
I see where you are going with the friends things, i think that all of the premium members seem to be quite sound people other members are welcome aswell, i think that if we are all car enthusiasts then we should be able to get on well together.

agreed matt the timing is bad, but its predominantly an east mids meet, but due to the location, it seemed like a good idea to tell everyone incase they wanted to come, but its not looking so good now
