Yeah it's based on the engine -- my emissions were stupidly high until they realised the engine wasn't original....

Vehicles fitted with a different engine
Test according to which is older , engine or vehicle.

eg. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter to prove engine age.

Makes sence, as you would think people would only put a newer engine in.

Aye he konws it based on the engine not car. i'll double check though...

after august 92 cat must be fitted..

How can i prove the year of the engine exactly??

Probably looking at about £300 i think, + the £150 i've already paid....maybe dunno just guessing...

I never had any probs at MOT time for mine.
Passed with flying colours. Guy said i had a really good car there.

Was impressed to say the least.
I did tell him the engine was out of a 1990 car tho so the emissions where fine.

not anything really big on there Mav but alot of niggly things.
But at least it will all be sorted, better knowing about them before they break eh?
