Will it happen do you think?
I remember the one back in 2000, everywhere like a ghost town!
Something has to be done, absolute fucking disgrace the prices

I was just about to post about this,
As much as petrol is getting even more expensive, these protests are only going to fuck most of us off who need petrol.

It's not just the government though, it's the petrol companies that need to take heed as well. They are both ripping us off!

Why can't one petrol station just lower its prices? That way everyone will go there for petrol, so then the other companies will reduce their prices as well

its not the petrol stations who make the price its the price of oil and then the government add their tax, petrol stations dont actually make that much from petrol sales

Jr's advice was the best IMHO.
Just go buy petrol, theres no point looking at the price cause we all need it!

I'm off work until the 20th, so won't need to worry about needing petrol......let it last for a few days, and let's hope the government take notice this time (highly un-bloody-likely, unfortunately )

It doesnt help that IIRC 90% of the price is duty levied by the government. If there was no duty to pay petrol would be 90% cheaper than it is now.
However if they reduced this duty they'd just take it off us some other way......

Even if one petrol station could profitably lower its prices this would never happen in the real world. It would just trigger of a price war and all stations will be selling petrol say 5p cheaper, they would still sell same amounts of petrol as previously but as it's at a lower price tehy would make less profits.

Thing is the government tax petrol big style,
95.3p per litre = 47p tax & addition 16p for other related expenses

i think they should put road tax on the petrol prices, then we dont have to worry about getting tax iscs etc etc and if someone (maybe one our indian friends ) was driving with out tax as they do.. they couldnt get away with it because they would be taxed on the petrol they buy.

but then you would end up paying over the odds for your road tax aswell as your petrol

The reason they can't just lower pump prices is that they would not be making any profit on selling the fuel. They have the fuel priced so low at the moment that thier profit margins are very close and they fuel companys are going to raise the prices more to get back in there.
