My tappets have slowly got progressively louder over the weeks and was wondering how to fix this without a mechanic.
At worst is when the revs reach 1.5-2.0 where u can really here them.
I was wondering if theres any d.i.y solutions?? thanks

clean with parafin and then stand immersed in clean oil... or just leave in clean oil if you have time, the amount of crap drawn into the clean oil is amazing

Don't soak them in petrol ever! The seals in them will degrade...
What you could do is get a set from a written off Vauxhall from a scrappy with low miles.
You could also soak your originals in engine oil for a week or so to clean them out.
Or you could replace them with a new set - though there is no point unles they are worn (gone orange).

If you soak them in oil try giving them a squeeze to get any air bubbles out of them, also number them and put them back in the same hole you got them out of, als keep them uprigh at all times! When replacing them, put them back in dripping in ngine oil - don't dry them off...
