the cost of something shouldnt make any difference as its not thousauds its maybe a couple of hundred quid and thats not alot of money to save up extra to do exactly what you wanna do!

16s i think are more expensive as they dont sell as many as 15s or 17s so the cost of making them is probably the same but they dont make as much return, maybe or i could be wrong!

I've got 17s, think they look sweet although they slow the car down a little bit

lower 30-40mm on 17" rims with et45-49 and there will be no arch mods or very minimal req when wanting to carry 4 up..
60mm drop on 15's is perfect and handles runs superb. if going 60 go for springs and shock set-up.
if just 30 may get away with just springs...
all about how you want car to run handle and look..
search around for 16's too as you get decent priced ones.

i would either go for 15s with a 60-80mm drop or 16s (speedlines ) with a 60mm drop
judging from your pics i wouldnt even entertain lowering on those rims as the offset seems way out. they will end up rubbing like a dirty welsh prostitute

Cheers
Yeah I have modded the arches a little bit but anyone could do it.
On the back arches I have trimmed the thread on the bolts that hold the arches on as far back as I could so there is just enough for the nut to grip. I've also chopped about and inch of the metal arch off to give a bit of extra clearance when I have people in the back.
On the front arches I've just trimmed the bolt thread in the same way I did on the rear. Doesn't scrub on the front at all and only scrubs on the rear if its a very bumpy road and I have a lot of weight in!
Its lowered 30mm BTW although when I park up next to Corsas that have been lowered 40mm its lower than them

IMO 15's and lower a little more, as with 17's, i've heared that they slow the car down a lot, and depending on how much you lower your car with 17's the wheels could scrub the arches!
