My battery light on the dash is half on and when i rev the car it gets brighter. old man thinks its the alternator. 1.6 gsi btw

any ideas

You getting any squeeking when you rev it? That would indicate the belt is loose. If not and the belt is OK then the alternater itsely may be goosed.

I'm sure you can test output voltage of one but I'm not sure what you would be looking for.

no not at all, dad said it might be one of the plates inside the alternator.

souns like the alternator to me connect another car to it like you are going to jump start it if the light goes out its the alternator

the output should be between 13.5 and 14.5 at the battery

just filled up with a full tank of petrol and the lights gone out how weird
