have talked about this with "Da Boss" (Ian) and we need to have a thread informing people of how to take care of their cars over the Winter months...
stuff like, what needs checking up on regular
what you need to top up on.
general stuff like that...
so anyone feeling helpful towards CS please post up anything you can think of that will help others

All i would say is, just make sure your oil and coolant is filled up.

make sure u have correct amount of anti-freeze in coolant, can buy test pens things from halfords

Don't thaw out a frozen-over windscreen with hot water unless you fancy a big crack appearing.Use a proper de-icing spray.

This sounds like a good idea - this will be helpful to me as this is my first wonter since i passed my test.
Might sound stupid but having wipers working properly and plenty screen wash seems like a gd idea

carry a warm blanket incase you get stuck somewhere
maybe a spade so you can dig for worms when u get hungry, could even use it to free a stuck car

give the car a good wax, correct anti freeze levels in the header tank, windscreen washer has antifreeze in, duck oil on electrical components, waxoil underside if wish, when theres salt spread on roads wash the car asap and dry as the salt will corrode paintwork and wheels/brakes and suspension!!
Keep ice scraper and de icer in car and indoors in case locks freeze over,
make sure brake fluid level is correct, possibly change the engine oil and filter to a thicker grade for the cold weather

My dads got a key shape thing that u put in the lock and it heats it up slowly from inside to melt ice - doesnt work tho cos the batterys in it are dead lol

have seen them before.. they look good
oh and good idea keeping the ice scraper and de-ice spray indoors  didnt really think of that myself  would have pissed me right off that

fpmsl i would say buy a cheap torch because its a buggar pissing around in the dark just when your bulb goes (personal experience)

Simple things.
WAXOYL the car underneath - this prevents rotting (yes even newish cars can suffer)
Remember to give the car a WINTER service - this means STRONGER anti frezze.
Change the OIL FREQUENTLY over the winter, reason being it gets hot then very cold and this can affect its consisancy and effectiveness on internal components.
Check spark plugs and HT leads. Make sure the plugs are gapped right and the HT leads have no spilts.
Before the bad weather comes check suspension components. If you have a knackered bush or something this will affect braking abaility and could save your life.
TYRES - Obvious. Correct pressures.
DRIVING TIPS
When sitting waiting to turn right off a main road - make sure your wheels are still pointing forwards - thus if your shunted from behind your not pushed into oncoming traffic.
Even on ice there is grip. You just need to search for it. Use just the clutch to pull away and you should be able to pull away cleanly and without spinning hence having control of the vehicle.
When driving in fog - set your wipers to intermittent - this will clear moisture that builds up on the windscreen.
