when driving the xe bus, i get a smell of oil after i've nailed it, and now it seems more and more often, check the oil every other day, and its just above half way in the 2 lines (min and max lines)
oil was only changed about 2000-2500 miles ago, so shall i just change he oil now before i get to 3k? or will that not make the problem go away? ot is it evan a problem or just common on the xe?

sure its not just an oil leak and the oils heating up on the block and stinking? mine was doing this

the sump is leaking but thats always done that and it aint that bad as i dont notice any lost oil really when i check the dipstick

oh so your not losing much oil then?
cool, erm it could be the sump loss oil going on to the exhaust piping and burning, though the XE's are prone to valve stem seals + guides so ive heard.

Does it smoke when you start it up in the morning, if not, prob wont be valve stem oil seals.
Does it smoke when your hammering it, best way to tell is at night and you have a car behind you with its lights on as you wont tell in the day unless its reall bad.

well it doesnt smoke smoke, like when the head's gone, but it does seem to have more fumes coming out when i 1st start her up than it does after i've been driving it abit.

Probably just the oil leak you have coming into cantact with summits quite hot under the bonnet. Next time you give it some stick or you smell burning, have a good look around.

ye that would make sense, as when cold it dont do it. or if i turn the blowers off, the problem goes away, but i know this aint the right solution to the problem 
i'll change the oil at the weekend and stick some good oil in her, and have a look under her and see whats leaking exactly and where from, maybe evan get it sorted if its easy enough and i can be arsed going vaux.

My Astra drinks too much oil, but that's probably to do with the fact that I nail it everywhere and it has a leaking rocker cover gasket!

mine leaks from near the dipstick, and the sump. couldnt smell no oil today, but could smell fire dont think it was my car tho
