150bhp in something weighing 1,000kg (the same as a 1.2-litre Corsa) is
a recipe for fireworks. Add in rampant torque steer and the
idiosyncrasies of a digital dashboard failing to keep pace with the
change in speed once grip is found, and you've the blueprint for the
Astra GTE 16v. Tiny red '16v' badges marked it out as special, and meant
Golf GTI 16v drivers rarely even bothered at the traffic lights. Don't
be fooled by a standard GTE's 'mere' 130bhp, for it's much less
exciting. Always a thrill, often for the wrong wrist-shearing reasons,
but the 16v's ability to hit 60mph in 7.2 seconds meant supercar pace
was rarely more affordable. It's where Vauxhall came up with the idea
for the Astra VXR

thats such an accurate write up of the car... a single tear rolls down my cheek

Thats a load of shot, just because you can't buy a Lotus Carlton for £900 don't mean it shouldnt be on that list, thats like saying a Escort/Sierra Cosworth isnt a Ford..

That list is really good, big shame they didn't have the Corsa on it. But let's be honest the cars on there all deserved it I think. Good Find!
