i have this object to render and want to do it in grass but its not lettin me and just renders in a shade of green how can i change this

take it ur using the hair / fur modifier an set all the colours to green then?
if not what are you doin / how far you got?

i dont need it to b a texture as in all the single strands, i just need it to render with a grass material as its juts for show use to portry a grass hill in 2d

righto so, youve put it into the material editor on one of the spheres, then dragged that onto the part of the model you want it onto, and then rendered it ?
if you want to see the material on the model without rendering it then you have to click an icon (cant remeber wat it looks like of top of me head)
i cant really think of anythin that could go wrong really... post a pic an ill see if i can help ya then
which renderer are you using btw?

yeah i tried that but it just turns it green instead of the material
