leave the battery disconnected for an hour or so... apparently, i'm not convinced its resettable

ive heard this also mate... is an hour enough ?? i dont reckon it will reset itself either. i think my battery will just think its been deserted

in a way your right, all it does is clear the ECU of any error codes
as its a self-learning system though, its constantly adapting to different conditions (air flow/temps/etc) so resetting it will really do naf all!

just because nobody could answer and engine problem question i had the other day. so i hoped resetting the ecu might save me

pretty much spot on realy! best thing you can do is bin it!
just a case of unplugging it, then just blank off the valve on top of the manifold & the vacuum lines on the lil sensor thing which is just behind the secondary air pump...
found some pics of when i did it...

thanks. ill get a proper mechanic to take it off though if possible, as i admit i dont know what im doing with it at all (didnt know what it was till cybermonkey of all people told me)

well i disconnected the pipes and cables, and theres no noise now 
couldnt remove the unit itself though as one of the bolts is totally stuck rock solid and rounded off like fuck

i thought revoving the pump brought the ecu light on??? if not i'll bin it off that x16xe coversion i'm doing
