Well he had to sit in the public gallery too until called and i noticed him right away.....I think he knew me to, he sat there looking very embarrased and sheepish with his head bowed and wouldn't look me in the eye. A few times we all had to leave court for closed cases etc and had to walk near him and he even held doors open for me.. I wanted to say something to him but i never, held my cool....
.
Sentenced has been deferred for social work reports as he has previous but not for drunk driving.
It is the judges recommendation that he get : wait for it....
A long driving ban.
A large fine.
And tagged for a year which will mean curfews etc and if he brakes the curfew will be jailed..
I suppose it's better than nothing
His licence got taken away today though and will see the length of his ban when he is back up...

Was weird sitting there all day virtually..There is some scum bags in this world..
Druggies
House breakers
Motorbike and car theft
Fraud
Drunk driving
They were all there today, and some funny moments like the girl being brought in in handcuffs and started shouting at a guy in the public gallery

Will find out when he is back up and go again i think...

Did you get any compensation for the crash?

Yeh I agree with Jason Mav. At least he is still being punished. Imagine how fucked off you would be if he got away scott free though.

Like Ash said though, any compensation?

Just think if he went away though, playstation, tv, meals cooked for him etc, will still be a shit life for a while, then he's gonna be fucked for jobs and cars in future.

Just glad that you and your family were ok in the end.

If it's your first time in court you wear a suit. The people who have been there a few times before just wear whatever shit they stole the night before from Matalan...

an old school friend of mine got a 12 month ban and a £400 fine for;
stealing his dads car (xsara vts)
driving without a licence
driving under the influence
driving without due care and attention
leaving the scene of an accident

the system is a joke, he should have got at least a 2 year ban, bigger fine, and 6 months for the combination of the crimes, oh, and the worst thing, was that he was 16 at the time of the ban, which started instantly, which meant he wasnt allowed a scooter, but the ban was lifted when he was 17, so he could drive a car. stupid

i think you should be kinda happy though mav, the bloke is gonna be tagged for a year, and chances are, he'll break the curfew and end up inside for a while anyway

Yeah I am quietly pleased if that is what he gets....Dunno when he is getting sentenced again though after reports..But i will find out..

Least his freedom will be sacrifised a bit...

being tagged is still quite serious so its still a result for you Mav.

must have been quite scary seeing someone speed towards you on the wrong side of the road. Were both cars complete write offs?

Someone I know did something very similar, except he also injured himself and his mate by crashing whilst speeding, knocking down some posts along the pavement before bouncing off in to a few more cars and making his own engine fall out.

Went to juvenile court where he got a polite telling off and a ban he'll probably ignore, and some costs equally to what my cars costs to insure per week.

I really don't know why I bother registering my cars in my own name, nevermind insuring against bending them. Easier just to drive someone elses and that would allow me to get pissed and speed as well. Bonus.

I would have like to have seen the bill for all damage send straight to him, taken direct from him - not anyone helping him out - and if he can't afford the council price for lampposts and a police bill for their time then he can get a loan off the court at 29% APR for the life of the balance.

Anything else takes the piss out of the dwindling number of us willing to actually own a car honestly.
