I'd get the Audi, purely because of the badge :S
The cars are gonna be very similar, and made with most of the same components. Golf is probably lighter and has the edge on performance though.
Depends whichone you prefer to drive I reckon

Cant get insured on the 1.8, or i would get that. Insurance on these are about £900 FC, and I think anything could really be better than a 1litre Corsa.

What insurance group are they? Why not Consider the VAG TDi range. My Ibiza is only group 8; which is pretty low for a 130bhp engine IMO.

The A3 is group 10,
The Golf is group 6.
Both about 100bhp
I cant get insured on anything past a group 10 or insurance rapes me.

Well look at the TDis honestly.
Ibiza and Skoda Fabia VRs are worth looking at, aswell as the Golf TDi

I've owned both. The Audi is definately a nicer car, but I sold mine to get a newer Golf. Insurance is cheap on them both, mine was less expensive to insure than my previous Corsa C 1.2 SXi.
The Golf is nice, looks smart with 18" wheels and lowered, however my main problem is the fuel consumption as I'm getting 22mpg driving sensibly around town. I'm thinking of changing mine for TDi.
